A quick overview:

Back in 2010 (end), Oasis church started running the youth ministry, which was named ‘Youth Fellowship’. It was pioneered by a youth leader team. At that time, the youth leaders team planned to have all the youth together (age 13-30) at the beginning, until we get to know each other. Afterwards a separation of the two ages was planned and so we started having separate youth meetings in 2011: Youth Fellowship Teens (Under 18) and Youth Fellowship Young Adults (over 18). It was at that time that our current dedicated youth worker Josefine joined the Teens Group, helping Pastor Pietro. For some social activities, even today the 2 groups meet together. In 2011 the Teens Group was running well, and the Young Adults were not very successful in attendance. Since 2012 however, we have around 10-12 people to attend each group regularly. Later the Teen Group was led by Pietro until in 2014 Tania and Francesco joined as youth leaders until they left for ETS (Bible College). Since the end of 2015, Ricardo and Lidia took over the lead and are still continuing.

Youth Fellowship, as the name says, is based on fellowship first. There was a need for the young people to get together and have fun with other Christians. Secondly, it is spiritually oriented, which allows the group to have some bible study, prayer, worship and speaking about different topics.

Right now, the Teens come together twice a month, once for social activities like games, skiing, movies, fun activities …, and once a month for spiritual activities (although there are always some games included). There have been some exchanges with other youth groups in Germany.

As a result in our young people (especially in the teens), they started to be more open in sharing about God, desiring to be baptized and serving Him. They are allowed to lead worship songs in our youth meetings as well as share a devotion with the group. The Teen Age is so important, although most people decide for Christ by age 9 according to some studies; however it is afterwards that they get grounded in the faith.

This ministry has proven itself to be a tool of evangelism and encouraging people to be committed to a church. As many other ministries we are in need of space and helpers. Please pray for this important ministry.
