“We are marching in the light of God…” was the sound coming out of the mouths of 30 people (13 from Oasis!) as we walked in the city with Christian banners with Bible verses printed on them. Planned by the Christian Youth Organisation “Chilly Vanilly”, we marched as a united team of Christians. More Christians joined us during the torch procession for the Grand Duke’s birthday celebration on 22nd June. It amazed me when we arrived in front of the Grand Duke and his family, that the music was playing “Glory, glory, Hallelujah, His Truth is marching on!” God has a sense of humour and likes to organise what we have not planned! 🙂
It is in these small things that we let everyone see that we are part of a bigger Christian community in Luxembourg and are not ashamed to show ourselves and come out of our “caves”.
We had also had the privilege to see those fantastic fireworks. It made me consider how bright the light shines in the darkness and how our lives shine in the world which is in total spiritual darkness. In the second year that this event took place, it always is challenging, since you are put on the spot and even shown on television (RTL). You are probably recognised by friends and colleagues and even ridiculed by some. But as Jesus himself taught us in Matthew 5:11-16: “Blessed are you when people insult you… because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…” and “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
I simply want to say thank you to all who came. I believe that we (me included) learned a little bit more about how to overcome our “fear” of being ridiculed. God is a God that gives us the right courage. Be blessed and let us always keep shining as stars in the universe.
